1st prize international invite competition, 2009. This four years mission for the State of Geneva (Canton de Genève) concerns the masterplanning of all public spaces and mobilites for the 230 ha Praille-Acacias-Vernets area, located south of Geneva and including the cities of Geneva, Lancy and Carouge. This commission includes the supervision, coordination and review all regeneration schemes located in the area and the design of a « remarkable » public space. The entire area, primarily industrial and logistics-dedicated will undergo major changes over the next 10-15 years: 15 000 new housing units will be built and 15 000 new jobs will be created, the PAV will constitute an outstanding neuralgic area and an immediate extension of Geneva’s center. The public realm and mobility network will hugely contribute defining all further urban developments. Our scope is both strategic (dealing with a complex stakeholder group, from banks and companies to inhabitants) and design-led (to create exemplar public spaces). Swiss based offices HHF (urbanism) and Citec (mobility) are part of the consortium leaded by AWP.
